Stella McCartney has collaborated with Adidas on the first-ever vegan Stan Smith sneaker and the fashion world is rejoicing. Set to be made available from September 10, the British designer has partnered with the sportswear giant on a new iteration of the iconic wardrobe staple that is 100 per cent cruelty free and comes complete with a number of fashion-forward features—including the designer’s signature, her portrait and number of embellishments. “The Stan Smith sneaker is just an incredible design that has stood the test of time. I’m a fan of the original as much as almost everybody is,” Stella told i-D.
In celebration of Bassike’s new Brisbane-based flagship store, set to open on September 7 at the entry to The Calile Hotel on James Street, the Australian label has partnered with the hotel to produce a line of organic jersey pieces that will now form the hotel staff’s uniform. Acknowledging that the uniforms must be long lasting and fit the requirements of the job, Bassike co-founder Deborah Sams explained, “our fabrics are perfect for this, but we also used high quality cotton to make sure we produced a collection for The Calile that not just looks beautiful but is fit for the task.”
Miu Miu celebrated the launch of the Miu Miu Type capsule collection with the unveiling of a Miu Miu “alphabet” at its autumn/winter ‘18/’19 show in Paris. Think white poplin shirts, cotton hoodies and tracksuit pants complete with between one to three letters, along with white cotton T-shirts that customers may personalise with the new typeface in select Miu Miu stores from September.
